The President called the meeting held by Google Meeting to order at 6:35pm.
Discussions:
Approve Minutes – Diane
A motion was made to approve the minutes of the September 25, 2024 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Jane B., and Christene J. seconded the motion. The motion was voted on and approved.
Diane will post the minutes to the forum for membership.
Financials – Lance
Lance reported that everything is on track financially. The major source of income for September was the Camp Korey and Enumclaw contests. Camp Korey was paid the $100 per team donation that was part of each team’s entry fee.
There were expenses from Eric for the stickers given to teams for finishing 1-3rd place in each category, as well as GC.
There will be expenses upcoming for the annual meeting at Clearwater Casino.
Christene made a motion to approve the October 2024 financial statements presented, and Jane seconded the motion. It was voted on and approved.
Events:
Clearwater
The veteran’s feed will be broken down into 3 separate service times, to reduce the amount of time waiting line for the patrons.
An email on the judging class to be held has gone out to those on the waiting list. There will be 24 students.
Awards have been ordered – 2nd -10th place ribbons, 2024 Champions award, TOY Banner, individual meat TOY awards. The non-ribbon awards are being made by Jason Hertz.
There will be our annual dessert auction, and there will be storage available for items requiring refrigeration. The auction will be conducted the same way as in 2023, with only the top desserts from the silent auction be auctioned off live.
Extra seats for the dinner will be added, and the contest organizers from all the other contests this year have been invited to the banquet.
Tentative schedule is:
Wednesday – 1:00pm access to the parking lot, prep meats/sides for the Vets/VIP feeds.
Thursday – Feed the Vets event, 3 different service times.
Friday – Judging class and the VIP dinner, BBQ competition begins.
Saturday – Turn in for the BBQ competition, Annual Meeting-6:00-6:30, Annual Banquet Dinner-6:45, and Dessert Auction.
Berry Dairy Days-Burlington, WA
The organizer is moving the venue to a park instead of the downtown street where the contest was last year.
Health Dept/Sampling
We need to consult with the various health departments as to what kind of sampling/vending would be allowed using the meat pool method vs. the individual team booth method. Possibly consult with our retired King County HD judge?
Other
There have been inquiries from Wild Waves in Federal Way, WA to do an event during the summer.
Clearwater Casino has expressed interest in doing a July event again.

Committees
By-Laws – Dale presented the revisions to the by-laws in regards to term limits, to the members of the board of directors. The document is located on Google Docs at: Committees/Bylaws/GoogleDocs/
The recommended revisions were incorporated into the document, and Christene J. made a motion to approve it, and have it placed on the ballot for the December ballot, to be voted on by the members. The motion was seconded by Noel O. The motion was voted on and approved.
Other Business
Since by November 15th, two trial meat order change contests will have been completed, a separate survey of pitmasters and judges of the association will be placed on the December 2024 ballot to determine the number of those members favoring changing the meat turn in order to chicken, ribs, pork, brisket. The board would vote on a potential rule change at the January 2025 meeting.
The January in person board meeting will be January 11th in Tukwila, WA.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 7:30, The motion was voted on and approved, and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be on December 18th at 6:30pm.
