    DROPPED BOX PROCEDURE

    REASONING:

    -         No unreasonable advantage to a team with a dropped box

    -         Maximum score of 194 still allows opportunity for other teams to place higher

    -         Eliminates confusion over a “perfect” 200 score for a dropped box

    APPEARANCE – BOX IS DROPPED:

    BEFORE BEING PRESENTED

    All judges

    Give 10 points for appearance

    DURING APPEARANCE JUDGING

Judges who are presented with box before drop

Score appearance based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

Remainder of judges unable to evaluate original appearance

    Give 10 points for appearance

TEXTURE – BOX IS DROPPED AND:

    ALL MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

    All judges

Score texture based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

    SOME MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

As many judges as there are meat samples remaining in box

Score texture based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

Remainder of judges not receiving meat for evaluation

    Score 9 points for texture

    NO MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

    All judges

All judges score 9 points for texture

TASTE – BOX IS DROPPED AND:

    ALL MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

    All judges

Score taste based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

    SOME MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

As many judges as there are meat samples remaining in box

Score taste based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

Remainder of judges not receiving meat for evaluation

    Score 10 points for taste

    NO MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

    All judges

All judges score 10 points for taste

ENTRY MEAT MULTIPLE WAYS – BOX IS DROPPED AND:

    ALL MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

Ways are obvious and six samples of each way are evident, judges take 1 of each

Score texture and taste based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

Jumbled box makes ways not easily discernible, judges each choose 1 serving to evaluate

Score texture and taste based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

    SOME MEAT REMAINS IN BOX

As many judges as there are meat samples remaining in box, each chooses 1 serving

Score texture and taste based on standard PNWBA entry evaluation

Remainder of judges not receiving meat for evaluation

    Score 9 points for texture

    Score 10 points for taste

    NO MEAT REMAINS IN BOX
