The local Health dept here in Kennewick sells a replacement spigot at the environmental health desk. These are the flow through spigot and are designed to replace the one that comes on the water cooler. They are currently out of them and awaiting more. I would be glad to pick some up and bring them to our events. We are competing at McKinley Springs and Skagit Valley so far. I am not sure if they will get them by this weekend but if you let me know I will try to bring some at cost. I will find out the cost tomorrow. I will also try to post a pic tomorrow.

Water Cookers are easy to retrofit. Here is one that I posted a couple of months ago. Parts from Home Depot.

Awesome, all you have to do is hit it with the valve with the back of your hand to keep things sanitary. Great post Tom!

Hey Tom, went to Hommies and tried to retrofit handwashing station like yours but had a hard time finding a valve like yours, could you give a bit to info on the valve and maybe where you fond it? Thanks in advance, Brian

Brian, it was about two years ago and I purchased it either at Home Depot or Lowes. I am sorry that I don't have the size and other information. I removed the plastic valve and carried it into the hardware store with me. If you live in the Seattle area, try McClendons Hardward.

Home Depot or McClendons does not have the parts to retrofit a cooler for a flow through faucet. Don't ask me how I know this!!

I found a homebrewers site that had all the parts # for a retrofit from Lowes, and it is what I used to mod mine.

79440 1/2" ball valve (brass)
61702 3/4" USS flat washer (2)
27966 1/2" flare x 1/2"MIP Elbow (brass)
35313 brass pipe nipple 1/2" x 1 1/2"
130376 rubber grommets 1 1/8" x 23/ (2)
29374 ID Barxnip ADP 1/2" x 1/2"

total $23.18

I would suggest saving the stop nut from the cooler spigot and the rubber washers and you could do w/o the Barxnip fitting and save a couple bucks.

Figure if you buy a replacement spigot online (plastic) they run @ $15 w/shipping the Lowes retrofit is about the same $$.

***Bring the cooler with you!**

This isn't the exact retrofit, but uses some of the same parts -you'll get the idea.
