This is one of those weekends where there's an event "in everybody's neighborhood"...Florence, OR...Cheney, WA... and Nanaimo, BC.
It's like Aug 3/4 with Whistler, BC...Molalla, OR and Stevensville, MT.
And then there's U.S. Labor Day weekend, Juarez (Portland)...Poulsbo, WA... and Calgary, Alberta.
Nice to have such choices. Here's hoping everyone's event turns into a qualifier!

Thrifty Foods Nanaimo BBQ Festival - July 14 – 15, 2012 (load in on July 13)
$10,000 PRIZE MONEY trophies, plaques, ribbons for top 10
Location: Commercial Street downtown Nanaimo BC on Vancouver Island 5 minutes from the ferry crossing at Horseshoe Bay / Departure Bay
This is a first annual and will require 15 teams to be a Jack Qualifier
This competition is part of a family orientated festival with a Family Fun Zone, Live Stage with a variety of music including David Gogo, The HIP tribute band, A Rush Tribute band and lots more, a Car and Bike Show and Shine, a Rib Eating Contest to raise money for our Hospital, People’s Choice Awards and a Summer Fun Expo on our award winning conference centre.

Chicken, ribs, butt** and brisket
$1500, Free Entry in 2013 competition, & Trophy Grand Champion,
$900 & Trophy Reserve Grand Champion

1. First TEN USA teams to register receive FREE ENTRY ($100 dollar refundable deposit required to be returned at competition but non-refundable if team doesn’t show up – not transferable)
2. First FIVE Canadian teams from the mainland to register receives FREE ENTRY ($100 dollar refundable deposit required to be returned at competition but non-refundable if team doesn’t show up – not transferable)
3. Rickards will be supplying beer for the wings – any team using beer is eligible for a side amount of $200 for best beer recipe
4. Meet and Greet on July 13th for teams, sponsors, judges, reps and VIP includes food and drinks
5. Random draws for the teams for FREE STUFF!
