I was wondering if you all could help me and my son. We are looking to do some smoking and possible next year get into competing Could you let me know an inexpensive smoker that is good to start out on and a list of items that will be needed to compete for next year. Thank you for your help

While this might not be everything you require or need personally, it is a very comprehensive list and should get you pointed in the right direction.

As far as a cooker goes, there are several you could try but I would say one of the more commonly used smokers be a Weber Smoky Mountain (WSM) which is relatively inexpensive. $299 for the 18" unit and $399 for the 22.5" unit.

Keep your eyes on the forum as people often post up items they have for sale or where a "hot deal" might be found for items needed for competion, including smokers.
