The Montague Rotary Club is hosting this new event in Montague, CA which is just 35 miles or so south of the Oregon border, east of Yreka CA, on July 27 & 28, 2012. It is a KCBS sanctioned Q-fest with the normal categories: Brisket, Ribs, Pork and Chicken and entry fees are $250 but only $230 if received by May 27. $5000 minimum prize money will be awarded. We need teams and judges to sign up! For more info please email john.e.hammond@sbcglobal.net for a team packet or judges packet of info that can be emailed to you. We will have a Tasters Choice sale also, for all that meat that you may want to sell! Please consider this first time event held in the shadow of Mt. Shasta in beautiful Siskiyou County in the heart of historic beef ranching country. Lots of down-home folks will welcome you with open arms! We look forward to meeting you.

Any chance they will be offering judging classes at this event?

Hey pitmasters....
This contest is one of those opportunities for Oregon and California teams
to come together for this sport we all are passionate about. I don't think
that there has been a contest of this caliber so centrally located between the two
states. I personally would like to meet all of you that could make it down.
This could be a Ore/Cal challenge any takers?
Thanks Dave Duarte From Mr. Applejacks BBQ Competition Team.

Come on teams, lets make this a qualifier. Just 15 teams needed, and they do have a Governor's Proclamation. Here's your shot! John

This was a great event and a good time was had by all. It was really cool to meet some oregon teams. Good to meet you; Da fat boyz, Rogue Caveman, Darold from pepper pappy's, John from Appetites. I would like to make it to the Mill Casino contest next year. I thought the centralized location of this contest was perfect. The venue was really cool, Small town, friendly, good location with awesome views. I'm looking foward to this one next year. See ya guys. David Duarte Mr. Applejacks BBQ Competition Team
